|
Playbill - Plot / Synopsis:
The Bachelor King - Chaos and hilarity ensue in this hysterical spoof of several
popular reality TV shows! When poor King Evian uses his last dying words (as he falls
out the window) to pass royal succession not to greedy Prince Daft but to Yokel, a
foolish hillbilly, everyone agrees Yokel needs a wife to help him run the kingdom.
Reminiscent of The Bachelor, his staff brings in eligible young ladies to vie for the
new king’s hand, including Agatha Peabody, a high-society matron; Priscilla
Tradewells-Ayers-Hollander-Morley, a four-times-married gold digger; Sally Valley, a
ditzy cheerleader from L.A.; Crushin’ Kanisha, a New York City gangster-type; and Jane
Claxton, a true-hearted cowgirl from Texas. Your audience will love being involved as
the five ladies are tested on their abilities in true American Idol fashion (no talent
necessary, of course!), followed by a Survivor challenge. Of course, Yokel has other
problems to deal with—the price of gasoline has skyrocketed, jobs are being outsourced
overseas, the stock market has tumbled and his self-appointed personal advisor Frederick
Pilfer is busy draining the royal treasury. Worst of all, the vengeful prince hatches a
slew of unsuccessful, hair-brained assassination plots against the new king. The
audience will be rolling in the aisles by the time Yokel sorts through the contenders
to find his true love and save his kingdom from ruin!

" Tumbleweeds " by Tim Kelly - Pioneer Drama Services. The cast
included some 30 actors including 14 men and 16 women. It was an
excellent success with four nights of "Sold Out" performances.
Yes, tickets have once again!
|
|
Playbill - Plot / Synopsis:
TUMBLEWEEDS, Tom Ryan's cheerfully irreverent look at the "Old West," is the
popular comic strip in hundreds of newspapers. Here it is adapted as a
lively musical bursting with wonderful music, lively lyrics and hilarious
jokes. TUMBLEWEEDS gets its name from the likeable cowpoke who tries his
best to be an optimist. It ain't easy because he lives in the wretched town
of Grimy Gulch which is populated by such bizarre characters as Hildegard
Hamhocker, who's always on the lookout for a husband (any husband as long as
it's Tumbleweeds), Judge Frump (who gives everyone a fair and impartial
conviction), Colonel Fluster of Fort Ridiculous (he's lost his troops) and a
tribe of eccentric Indians called the Poohawks. The Choo-Choo Railway wants
to wipe the town from the map, and it sends Clementine Greedy to arrange
things with the meanest man in town... Snake-Eye McFoul. No one is
interested in Tumbleweeds' attempt to improve the town except his former
school teacher, Prudence Lovely, who arrives with a stagecoach of romantic
young ladies on an educational tour. To help out, Prudence plans to open a
"School For the Ignorant." Thanks to Tumbleweeds, things do return to normal
(or sub-normal in the case of Grimy Gulch) in a rousing slam-bang finale.

After twenty years of marriage, Cinderella and Prince Charming have some
problems: the Enchanted Kingdom teeters on the brink of bankruptcy.
Cinderella's fairy godmother is blackmailing her, the Prince's adviser has
one arm and one swan's wing and an unfortunate habit of breaking everything
he encounters, and Red Riding Hood has set her cap for the Prince. Though
hoping Rumplestilskin can spin gold from straw, the Prince fears he may have
to make the Enchanted Kingdom a tourist attraction. Cinderella resolves
their difficulties by confronting her godmother and opening the Kingdom to

Playbill - Plot / Synopsis:
With clever plot twists, fast-paced dialogue and great opportunities for
physical humor, you've never seen Rome like this before! While the emperor
is away at war with almost all the senators and other men of the city,
playful peasant thieves ransack the marketplace, the annoying senators'
wives invent silly promotions to raise war-time funds and the princess
searches in vain for a husband. If she can't find a suitable match, her
father has decreed she must marry the last gladiator standing in the
upcoming games. That's the last thing this headstrong, intelligent
feminist leader wants! To make matters worse, top-ranking (and draft
dodging!) Senator Altilis is breathing down her neck to choose him as the
one lucky senator to control affairs at the homefront. If it weren't for
the princess, Altilis could decree himself that privileged senator. He
deviously schemes to get her out of the empire's affairs by moving the day
of the gladiator games up, thus burdening the princess with planning her
dreaded wedding. Meanwhile, peasant thieves Gladis, Minimus (his friends
call him Mini) and Julia sneak into the royal palace disguised as
handmaidens. They are promptly caught in a hilarious scene, almost becoming
lion food until the princess gets an idea. If she trains the muscled
Gladis to compete in the games, she can avoid marrying Brudis, the
brainless brute favored to win. A hysterical scene follows when Mini and
Julia's plan to rig the games to save Gladis's life blows up in their
faces! Find out who is left standing (and who is sent packing!) in this
side-splitting comedy.

Playbill - Plot / Synopsis:
Pa Belsnickle is a man with six problems — in the form of six unmarried
daughters. Juney Lou, his third daughter, wants to marry Homer Upschlager,
but Ma Belsnickle has decided Juney Lou can’t get married until Ceelie, a
ripe old nineteen, and Bonnie Mae, the bookworm, are married and living
happily ever after. She elects Pa to find husbands for them. Pa takes his
shotgun off the wall with a very simple method of procuring the necessary
husbands. He decides to “wing” ‘em, pick out the buckshot, and have the boys
married to his girls before they know what happened. In the midst of Pa’s
husband hunting, Ronald Maxwell, a medical student, and his aunt arrive at
the Belsnickle’s mountain cabin. They are vacationing in the area and their
car broke down. Both Ceelie and Bonnie Mae are instantly attracted to the
handsome stranger. Bonnie Mae keeps her adoration secret, however, Ceelie
utterly refuses to marry anyone else. That presents a major problem since
Ceelie is the dirtiest, homeliest hillbilly girl in the valley. Pa gets his
trusted gun, but unfortunately misses Ronald. Two neighbors (male and
unmarried) decide that the handsome stranger loose among the valley’s most
attractive girls is a threat to their manhood. They decide to fake a feud to
scare him away. Ma forbids Pa to take another shot at Ronald so he, ignorant
of the other plan, also decides to fake a feud and shoot a husband for
Ceelie. The feudin’ finally settles long enough for Ceelie and Bonnie Mae
to find happiness and Ronald to escape with fond vacation memories.

Playbill - Plot:
Four sedate suburban matrons are suddenly interrupted during their weekly
bridge game by a pair of inept bank robbers who are desperate for a hideout.
At first, our frenzied hostages try frantically (and hilariously) to
communicate their plight to two unexpected visitors. Unfortunately, their
zany attempts to be saved are to no avail. However, the robbers are simply
pretending to be experienced criminals. And with our stalwart heroines being
avid viewers of television soap operas, they realize they have the two
thieves right where they want them! In fact, they know more about the crime
industry than their bumbling captors. It is the bridge players who triumph...
but not before thoroughly counseling the robbers on the evils of wrong. In
the end, the robbers turn out to be "nice crooks" on the joyful road of
"going straight."

"The House of Agatha Mysterie".
|
The House of Agatha Mystrie
Comedy. Robert A. Allen. 5 m - 5 f - Bakers Plays
Plot: Ms. Mystrie, the famous and prolific mystery writer, gathers a group of
the world’s finest (and most peculiar) detectives at her home for a weekend

Holmes, Clues II, The Hardly Brothers (though they’re hardly brothers), and
Rob Remington, Private Investigator. Once all together, Ms. Mystrie
convinces them all to solemnly promise not to solve any mystery for two
whole days. Everyone, though at first skeptical, complies. But when the
body of a mysterious guest is found, everyone must decide whether to keep
their promise. Unbeknownst to Ms. Mystrie (and everyone else), each of them
has decided to find a way to find the murderer without solving the mystery . . .
This play is full of frenzied one-liners and comic word-play.
